The article ‘HDAC1 Silencing in Ovarian Cancer Enhances the Chemotherapy Response’ [Cellular Physiology and Biochemistry (2018) 48 (4): 1505–1518. https://doi.org/10.1159/000492260] by Xinfeng Liu, Ying Yu, Jinna Zhang, Caixia Lu, Liming Wang, Ping Liu and Hao Song has been retracted by the current and former Publisher and the Editor.
Following publication, concerns were raised regarding the image integrity. Specifically, image overlap was identified between panels in Figure 2E and 3E in this article. Figure 3E contains panels that are also presented in Figure 1C of an earlier published article [1] by a different author group. Image overlap was identified between panels within Figure 4C in this article. Figure 4C contains panels that are also presented in Figure 7A,B,D of an earlier published article [2] by a different author group. Image overlap was identified between panels within Figure 5C in this article and between panels within Figure 5D in this article. Figure 5F contains panels that are also presented in Fig1A,B of an earlier published article [3] by a different author group.
When asked to comment the corresponding author and two co-authors did not respond. The concern was therefore raised to the corresponding author‘s institution which also did not respond to our request for an investigation. As the concerns raised about these figures could not be addressed or resolved, the reliability of the findings presented in the article cannot be guaranteed and the article is being retracted.
The authors have not responded to the notice of this retraction within the given timeframe despite multiple attempts of contact.
